FSA - Financial Services Authority

Not to be confused with the new Food Standards Agency, this is the homepage of the Regulator responsible for all sectors of UK financial services, combining the roles previously undertaken by, among others, the Bank of England and the Personal Investment Authority. This link is to the consumers' pages, with further links to downloadable guides.

The Pensions Regulator

The Pensions Regulator has taken over the duties of OPRA, and has additional responsibilities. Their site has a wealth of consumer information, and has a link to the “trace a pension” service to help track down old pension benefits if you think you may have an old pension, but are not sure of the details.

The Personal Finance Society

The Personal Finance Society is the UK’s largest professional body for individual financial advisers, and part of the Chartered Institute of Insurance. The link provided takes you to the consumer area, and to some general advice about the different types of advisor available, and about how to chose an adviser suitable for you.

An excellent resource, this Official site acts as a central hub to a wide range of government information, with links to departmental (ministerial) and regional government sites.

HM Revenue & Customs

The new combined department, incorporating the old Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise. Everything an individual or company needs to now about tax. Links to a wealth of downloadable information documents, including latest guidance documents.

BBC News Stockmarket Data

FTSE100 update every minute (15 minutes delay), plus DOW Jones and NASDAQ (20 minutes delay), and a quick link to individual stock prices and movements.
